Former Viking Collis to Begin Second Pro Season:

Former Santa Monica High pitcher Rocky Collis is awaiting his second professional baseball season after graduating from Cornell and spending most of last season in Rookie Ball in Peoria, Arizona.

Collis, a right-hander, was a 28th round selection of the Seattle Mariners.

He was called up to Double-A San Antonio late last season and then to Triple-A Tacoma for the last two weeks, appearing in one game and pitching two shutout innings.

After Rocky Collis played for Samohi, the family moved to La Canada, where younger brother Luke began his football and baseball activity at St. Francis High. Luke was the all-Mission League quarterback this season but has not decided between football and baseball for his college career.
