New Faces at School District:

The Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) has filled two new posts, both awaiting approval from the Board of Education on February 1.

Dr. Stephen Hodgson, Ed.D., will become the District’s new Interim Chief Financial Officer. He is finishing up serving in that capacity at Pasadena Unified School District.

SMMUSD’s Superintendent Dianne Talarico says, “Dr. Hodgson has extensive experience as a CFO and an impeccable reputation. A person of his caliber will be a great compliment to the District’s dedicated financial team. I feel confident going to Dr. Hodgson with the District’s financial questions.”

Dr. Chiung-Sally Chou, Ph.D., is slated to become Chief Academic Officer. Chou comes from the Compton Community College District, where she was an Associate Special Trustee.

SMMUSD’s Superintendent Dianne Talarico states, “Dr. Chou will compliment the Ed Services department with her extensive background in secondary education. Her experience working in high schools and community colleges will support the district’s efforts in providing access to higher education learning opportunities for all students. Her extensive ties to the College Board will enhance the district’s advanced placement program.”
