Mestas Pitches, Hits Venice To Softball Wins:

It’s getting late in the high school softball season and nobody has been able to slow down Danielle Mestas yet.

         The Venice High star not only has pitched eight victories in 11 decisions but also has a robust .604 batting average.

         Mestas is closely followed by teammates Michelle Ayer (.532), Georgie Dominguez (.519) and Sandra McCaw (.419).

         Venice has a 13-3-1 record, including 7-1 in the Western League. The loss was to Westchester, 11-1.

         Palisades is 11-2, with both defeats coming in league competition.       In other Westside softball, Santa Monica defeated Hawthorne, 10-0.
