Brentwood Defeats Crossroads In Softball:

The Brentwood High softball team defeated Crossroads in an important Alpha League game on Thursday, April 26 by a score of 2-1.

         The win kept Brentwood’s playoff hopes alive and the loss hurt Crossroads’ chances. Three teams from the league will qualify for the playoffs and currently Paraclete is first and Campbell Hall second.

         Brentwood has an 8-5 record with junior Logan Kinsey among those playing key roles.

         Kinsey has a .459 batting average and is 6-5 as a pitcher following the win over Crossroads. Centerfielder Hannah Bender is hitting .366 and Katie Buckner, the team’s regular catcher, has a pitching record of 2-0.

         In other recent games Brentwood lost to Marshall, 1-0, and defeated Louisville, 2-1.

         The Malibu High softball team is 4-1 in the Frontier League but only 7-12 overall. There was a 6-5 loss to Fillmore followed by a 15-2 win over Villanova Prep.

         Santa Monica, the Ocean League leader, defeated Morningside, 17-1, and Culver City, 11-0.       In the Western League Venice defeated Fairfax, 9-3, and Palisades had a 9-4 win over Hamilton.
