What’s Hot:

Robbie Fulks, July 28, 8pm

Singer/songwriter Robbie Fulks’ style is a fine representation of the alternative country and roots rock scene. Fulks cut his teeth with outfits such as the bluegrass band Special Consensus, and received considerable acknowledgement for his tune “Cigarette State,” which appeared on Bloodshot Records’ 1994 compilation Insurgent Country, Vol. 1. With his deliciously twisted and unusual take on music, Fulks shows why he has been one of the more highly praised artists of his genre.

Queen Ida and Her Zydeco Band, August 2, 7:30pm

Lake Charles, Louisiana’s Queen Ida (born Ida Guillory) was the first female accordion player to helm a Zydeco band. Since her earliest days of performing with the Barbary Coast Band and the Playboys, Ida has found herself in demand. This excellent musician has gone on to play the Monterey Jazz and Blues Festival and Austin City Limits as well as appearing on Saturday Night Live. Additionally, her majesty is responsible for such toe-tapping, boogie-inducing vehicles as In San Francisco and Cookin’ with Queen Ida.

Also on the bill are the Hacienda Brothers and opening act the Blue Notes.
