Two seniors at Santa Monica High have been awarded the first annual Santa Monica Firefighters Scholarship.
The award was given to Adriana Padilla and Valentine Urena for community service, having at least a 2.0 grade point average, applying for the scholarship and writing an essay about “What Service Means to Me.” Both also received $500 for college. Among other selfless activities, Padilla tutored students at Will Rogers Elementary School while Urena volunteered at the Red Cross.
Only Samohi seniors are eligible. For more information, go to the school’s College Counseling office or smfire.org.
