Wright Excels, But St. Monica Defeated:

Despite excellent play from James Wright, St. Monica lost its opening football game to St. Anthony in Long Beach Friday night, September 7, 34-6.

       Wright ran for 91 yards on five carries, caught five passes for 66 yards and was in on 20 tackles from his safety position, including nine solo.

       Coach Shawn Ritter said the Mariners played fairly well on defense but gave up several big plays.       Chris Lindquist played most of the game at quarterback.
