Name Changes in Venice Canals:

Venetians are nothing if not determined. Community activists have spent two years lobbying to get name changes for the alleys (known as Courts) that provide vehicle access to the homes that front on the Canals due to the fact that confusion often arose when people – including police officers and firefighters – had trouble finding specific addresses.

The new names of the Courts, fom south to north, are as follows:

Sherman Canal Court is now Court A (between Grand Canal and Ocean Avenue).

Howland Canal Court is now Court B (between Grand Canal and Eastern Canal).

Linnie Canal Court is now Court C (between Grand Canal and Ocean Avenue).

Carroll Canal Court is now Court D (between Grand Canal and Eastern Canal).

Virginia Court is now Court E (between Grand Canal and Eastern Court).
