In its 50-year existence, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields has recorded 500-plus pieces of music, more so than any other chamber orchestra. Perhaps best known for its contribution to the soundtrack of Amadeus, the orchestra has also mastered the work of Bach, Brahms, Stravinsky, and many others. For its engagement at Royce Hall, the orchestra will be performing two works by Felix Mendelssohn and a Mozart piano concerto. Sir Neville Marriner, who founded Academy of St. Martin in the Fields in 1958, will conduct the performance, and Yuja Wang, a 21-year-old pianist who has already received worldwide recognition, will appear as a soloist.
