With a team batting average over .300 and a couple of impressive wins to begin Camino Real League play, the St. Monica softball team is gaining attention.
The team co-coached by Larry Rodriguez and Joey Carillo has won seven of its first 12 games and leads the league following 8-1 and 7-0 victories over Mary Star and St. Bernard.
There was also a 5-3 win over Bellarmine-Jefferson, giving the Mariners a three-game winning streak.
Haleigh Pellicer has a .667 batting average. Jennifer Munoz is hitting .500, Kiana Dotson .400, and Kyner Sherrin .348.
