Heal the Bay Benefit featuring Bad Religion, Tiger Army, The Briggs
April 6, 7:30 p.m., Sold Out
Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, 1855 Main Street, 310.458.8551
Nonprofit environmental group Heal the Bay and commercial alternative radio station KROQ 106.7 have long partnered on projects. With this benefit concert, the two bring together legendary LA band Bad Religion, which is currently finishing work on its 14th album, with wildly popular rock band Tiger Army and up-and-coming punk band The Briggs to raise funds for the organization’s continued pursuit to keep Santa Monica Bay tidy. It’s the highest profile concert to hit Santa Monica Civic in ages and one with a mission that hits close to home. Tickets have already sold out, but that’s not to say you won’t be able to find a pair somewhere.

It’s probably been years since you dusted off that Soft Cell record sitting in your garage, but sometimes you just can’t help but hum “Tainted Love” for no particular reason. You’re longing to dance to the beats that rocked parties so many years ago, but you don’t know where to go. Reconnect with the music of the 80s at this monthly club hosted by the gang that brings you $2 Tuesdays every week. With Tony D’Oporto and Jason behind the decks, expect a good mix of the decade’s big hits mixed in with tracks that time almost forgot. DJ Paul Robb of Information Society will be the special guest for the club’s opening event.
