For folks who don’t know, the City of Santa Monica has an adult female softball league. They play on Monday nights in Olympic Park, located on Olympic Boulevard, between 14th and 16th Streets. The league plays year round, and each year the league has three seasons. Just one year ago, Dangerous Darlins joined the Santa Monica “B” League. At the beginning of this season, the Dangerous Darlins started their season with three losses, finding themselves ranked in fourth place. They came back to win eight straight games and finish the season in first place with a record of nine wins, three losses. The championship playoff games were single-elimination, the exception being that the first place team had to lose two games to be eliminated.
The playoffs started June 9, and ended with a doubleheader this past Monday evening. Dangerous Darlins beat Sweet Spot by nine runs; the final score was 12 to 3 in the first game of the evening. They then went on to play Whatever. The girls gave it their all and won a very close game 6 to 5. Next season starts July 14.
