Santa Monica Civic Auditorium 50th Birthday Celebration
August 9, 6-11pm, free
Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, 1855 Main St., civicmemories.smgov.net, 310.458.8555
Can you believe our local all-purpose auditorium is 50 years old? The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium has seen many events over the years from being the home of the Oscar ceremonies in the early 1960s to hosting jewelry, antique, and pet shows, food fairs, and many memorable concerts (the famous concert film The TAMI Show was filmed here in 1964). The birthday bash planned by the City includes music by the Gary Mendell Quintet, hula with the Tropical Paradise Dancers, food, and a screening of the surf classic The Endless Summer at 8pm.
