Crossroads Retires Basketball Jerseys:

For the first time in the history of Crossroads basketball a jersey has been retired.

 In fact, two of them.

A ceremony was held last month in honor of Baron Davis and Austin Croshere, and then a game was played between teams comprised of their former Roadrunner teammates. The game was close and as Davis coached one team and Croshere the other plays were frantically diagrammed near the finish, all in good spirit.

The capacity crowd in Crossroads’ gym consisted mainly of alumni who had been invited.

“Both guys seemed genuinely moved by the event,” said Crossroads athletic director Chuck Ice. “They have represented Crossroads well since leaving here and have handled their careers superbly.”

Davis went on to UCLA and has been an NBA all-star. After opting out of his contract with the Golden State Warriors after last season he signed as a free agent with the Clippers.

Croshere went on to Providence, and then began a lengthy NBA career.

Ice said several players who now live in other states flew in for the occasion.
