Venice’s Football Season Ends In Playoff Defeat:

After winning six straight games the Venice High football team was eliminated from the L.A. City Section playoffs by San Pedro, 31-0 on Wednesday, November 26.

The second round loss finished Venice’s unusual season – five losses followed by six wins, and then elimination against the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.

San Pedro advanced to the semi-finals on December 5 against Taft, the No. 3 seed. Narbonne, the No. 1 seed, eliminated two-time defending champion Birmingham and will play Crenshaw in the other semi-final.

Venice trailed at halftime, 14-0, and San Pedro went on an eight-minute scoring drive in the third quarter.

After struggling at the beginning of the season, Venice became the Western League champion.
