FIESTA DE MAYO:

Cinco de Mayo Fiesta and Classic Car Show took place at Virginia Avenue Park on Sunday, May 3. Entertainment included the Mariachi Estrella de Jalisco group and Ballet Folklorico de Eleazar Radarte. Alvaro Ontiveros with his 1939 Chevy Pick Up won the Chief’s Trophy in the Classic Car Show judged by Santa Monica Police Chief Timothy Jackman and Santa Monica Fire Chief Jim Hone. Ontiveros with his father Ferman, a famous car restorer, who gave him the truck, then a “rust-bucket,” when he graduated high school in 1999. Father and son have worked on the truck.
