Playing For Money?
Wednesday, June 17, 10:25 p.m. Officers of The Santa Monica Police Department responded to a call requesting that they attend the 300 block of The Santa Monica Pier, a business called Playland Arcade, where people play at various electronic games etc. When they arrived they were told that a male employee had been counting money at the end of his shift, when another man, namely the suspect, had attempted to grab the money and run. The employee did not give up the money, but attempted to call the police instead. The suspect chased the employee around the arcade, all the while threatening him with bodily harm unless the money was handed over. At that point another male employee arrived, and stopped the suspect from his eager quest to get the money. The suspect decided it was time to get out of Dodge, but did not get far because Santa Monica’s finest caught him before he had even got off the pier! The suspect was booked for attempted strong-arm robbery.
They Wanted Green Tea Yogurt.
Saturday, June 20, 2:00 a.m. This is a strange story involving a victim, a delivery truck, six and a half gallons of green tea yogurt, two suspects, and a pair of passing citizens, as well as officers of The Santa Monica Police Department. What happened was that the male driver (victim) of the delivery truck had stopped at the intersection of Third Street Promenade in order to deliver his goods. Whilst he was going about his business, he noticed two guys (suspects) at the rear of the truck, so he went round to the rear of the truck to see what was going on, and saw that these guys were walking away with their desired booty, namely the six and a half gallons of green tea yogurt. The driver confronted the two guys (“Hey, that six and a half gallons of green tea yogurt does not belong to you!”), but they in turn began to assault him (they really wanted that yogurt badly, it seems). The driver defended himself against one of these guys by punching the guy in the face with his fist, and then, fearing for his life, fled back to the truck. One of these guys followed him and continued his attack, but suddenly help came in the form of two passers by! The two passers by stepped in just in time to stop this guy from choking the driver, and at that moment the cops also arrived, and dealt with the situation by arresting these two, apparently, green tea yogurt obsessed, fellows. One of the suspects was booked for assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, robbery and vandalism. The other suspect, who was located a short distance away, was booked for robbery.
