Alert: Police Blotter: Santa Monica:

There’s No Smoke Without Fire!

Wednesday, August 19, 1:54 p.m. Officers of The Santa Monica Police Department received a call telling them that there was an attempted robbery incident that had occurred in the 1900 block of Arizona Avenue. When they arrived there they spoke with the victim, who informed them that he was walking to work when a man (the suspect) stood in front of him, and demanded that he hand over twenty bucks, for no reason at all. The victim, realizing that if a person approaches in that manner, and requests such ridiculous favors from a complete stranger, they may also be a threat to their person; thus the victim proceeded to walk to a nearby fire station for assistance (reasonable act). As this victim was perambulating to the fire station, the suspect reached into his (suspect’s own) backpack, and performed a simulation that suggested that he had a knife (sleight of hand?), and then chased after the victim, whilst threatening to stab him! When the victim arrived at the fire station, the suspect must have felt the heat, because he decided to flee the scene. The officers were not going to let this incident settle in the cold case files, and decided to locate this suspect. They did just that, and arrested him, took him to jail, and booked him for attempted robbery.

I am 36, 24, 36.

Friday, August 21, 7:59 a.m. Officers noticed a conveyance that had committed a vehicle code violation, and so stopped said vehicle. After they had done this they spoke with the driver, who claimed that he did not have any ID. He then proceeded to give them several different dates of birth, and after he had done this he gave the officers a name that did in fact return via the officer’s technological equipment and matched a drivers license, but the description of the license holder did not match the guy in the car. The officers then decided that they needed more technology, so they got on their radio and requested the mobile fingerprint reading machine (at this point, it is safe to assume that the driver of the car was wishing that he could board the next flight back to…the 1960’s?)! When the machine arrived the driver ‘fessed  up, admitting that he had been giving false dates of birth, and the false name to possibly go with at least one of those dates. This gentleman, a male Latino, aged 29, of Adelanto, was arrested, and charged with giving false information that belonged to someone else (“Hey, that’s MY name!” “Oy, that’s MY age!”), driving on a suspended license, and some warrants.

 Who Wants A Fight?

Friday, August 21, 10:20 p.m. Officers heard about a fight at the 1600 block of Appian Way, and so drove there. Upon arrival the cops found five guys in the parking lot and began to investigate. As they were doing this they saw one of these fighters throw a knife underneath a nearby vehicle. At that time one of these individuals became verbally angry and made threats to one of the cops (huh?). These threats included the kind that were of an intent to cause physical harm to the policeman, at which point the officer deduced that his life was in danger from this strange fellow. The police arrested this (rather foolish?) chap, a Latino gentleman, bereft of an address, and charged him for threatening a crime with the intent to terrorize. A second unwise man was arrested for public intoxication.

 Back To The Future?

Sunday, August 23, 5:14 p.m. Officers went to the Albertson’s Supermarket lot at the 1600 block of Lincoln because they had heard about a traffic incident that involved injuries. What had occurred was that a car had reversed in an unsafe fashion, and hit another motor vehicle. As the officers took details they discovered that one of the drivers did not possess any ID, and that this chap had also given false information to the police. The police had no choice, they had to arrest him, so they did, and charged this guy with being an unlicensed driver, giving false information, and the ever present outstanding warrants.
