PUBLISHER’S NOTEBOOK: Redesign: A New Look, A New Feel, Same Paper:

The time has come for the Mirror to receive a face-lift. In the beginning of the year I wrote an editorial regarding the change of ownership, the commitment the Mirror has within the community, and some big things coming down the road in regards to our product.

I’m sure if you are a regular reader, this was apparent when you looked at the front page of this issue and as you flip through the paper, you will see new changes, like our new section fronts. This new format for the paper will not change how we cover the city, sports, or the events. The Mirror will simply be bigger, filled with more information, and made for those who have niche interests in our community.

Each week we will feature a Health, Sports, Real Estate, and Dining section. In the future we will be introducing sections about Pets, Living Green, Business, and many others. The reason I wanted to change the format was so that when you are reading the Mirror, it would be easy locate the section that you are interested in. Before this redesign, we filled our paper with no rhyme or reason; we just wanted to make sure it looked nice.

The truth is, Santa Monica has so much in this community and offers so many different services, programs, events, opportunities for both business and leisure, that creating a product that caters to these individual lifestyles is something we feel is essential. This is our vision for the future in the Mirror and we promise that as Santa Monica moves forward, we will as well. We will offer the best editorial we can find, we will create a product that is both useful and entertaining. Most of all, we will be only publication for locals, made by locals.
