Local Baseball Teams Gearing Up for the Playoffs:

Santa Monica High School Vikings

After a dramatic conclusion to the regular season, which saw the Vikings exchange wins with Culver City, both teams ended up with a share of the Ocean League Title. But the Vikings now have their eyes on a bigger prize: The CIF championships.

The California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Division 3 playoffs begin on Thursday, and the Vikings will travel to Quartz Hills for the first round. The game starts at 3:15.

The Vikings finished 8-2 in the Ocean League, and 15-11 overall. Quartz Hills enters the playoffs 13-1 in the Golden League and 17-9 overall.

Crossroads Baseball

The Crossroads’ Roadrunners are headed into the CIF-SS Division 6 playoffs at full speed, looking to keep their Nine-game win streak going deep into the post season. The road starts at home, in Clover Park against Viewpoint on Friday, at 3:15.

The Roadrunners clinched the Delphic League with a perfect 8-0 league record, and a 15-7 record overall. Viewpoint owns a share of the Liberty League title, finishing with a 7-1 league record and a 16-5 overall record.

The two teams met earlier this season, on March 25. The Roadrunners won that meeting 5-3.

St. Monica

The St. Monica Mariners hit the road on Thursday for their opening game in the CIF-SS Division 5 playoffs. The Mariners, who finished second in the Camino Real League with a 9-6 league record and 15-10 overall, will face Heritage in the opening game at 3:15.

Heritage finished second in the Mountain Pass League at 11-3 with an overall record of 18-8.

New Roads

New Roads will be at home for their first game of the CIF-SS Division 7 playoffs. The Jaguars, champions of the Harbor League with a 5-1 league record (15-8 overall) will face Dunn High School on Thursday.

Dunn finished third in the Condor League with a 4-3 league record, and 5-7 overall record.

Pacifica Christian

The Pacifica Christian Seawolves look to extend their win streak into the playoffs on Thursday.

The Seawolves will host Hope Centre Academy in their opener for the CIF-SS Division 7 playoffs. Pacifica, which finished second in the Heritage League with a 7-3 record squares off against a Hope Centre team which finished second in the Freedom League.

The Seawolves haven’t lost since April 14, winning 10 consecutive games to finish 13-5 overall.
