On Saturday, Jan. 22, at 9:17 p.m. officers received a call to go to BevMo, located in the 3200 block of Wilshire Boulevard in response to a “burglary in progress” report. They had been advised that the manager had said that a suspect from an earlier theft had entered the business, and that the manager had locked the doors in order to keep the suspect inside the business.
When the officers arrived they were able to detain this suspect at the front of the business, and then speak with the manager about what had been going on. The manager said that this person had entered the business many times and stolen a bottle of alcohol (not the kind of returning customer a business desires, it can be safely said). The manager even produced photographs showing the suspect concealing bottles of alcohol in his pants and leaving without paying (the suspect clearly did not see the CCTV).
This man was charged with burglary, and was a parole violation. He was not eligible for bail.
