The Santa Monica City Council will be considering two major issues and several key budgetary items at its meeting tonight, as the board convenes its regularly scheduled public conference with a full agenda at City Hall at 5:30 p.m.
Among the key issues the Council plans to discuss tonight include the schematic designs of downtown’s Parking Structure 6 and an ordinance altering the Municipal Code to require contractors subject to the City’s Living Wage Law to extend benefits (such as health care) to workers with same sex spouses and domestic partners.
Also, the Council will be holding a public hearing to potentially grant an appeal and approve zoning modifications for Parking Structure 6.
Other issues on the agenda include:
• The “authorizing the City Manager to negotiate cooperation agreements with the Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority relating to the construction and operation of a light rail transit system within the City of Santa Monica;”
• Authorization of to negotiate a license agreement with Cirque du Soleil to use the 1550 PCH parking lot for its planned performances between Jan. 2 and March 30, 2012;
• Potential execution of a two-year contract with Bike and Park, LLC, to operate an downtown bike transit mobility center;
• Potential execution of “a contract with MNR Construction, Inc., in the amount of $2,429,735, for the Water Main Replacement Project.”
