Delusional Man With Knife Arrested at Universal Music Office: APB: Sharp Fellow

On Friday, June 17, at 12:40 p.m. Santa Monica police officers went to the Universal Music Group, located in the 2000 block of Colorado Avenue, after receiving a report that a delusional man had entered the lobby. Security personnel had escorted the delusional man out of the building, and as they were doing so they spotted a large fixed blade knife that was concealed upon the delusional man’s person.

When the officers arrived they located the suspect inside the Starbucks next door to the music company. The officers detained the delusional man, and found a 15” blade on him. The 32-year-old homeless Santa Monica man was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed dagger. His bail was set at $25,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com
