Santa Monica Unveils Solar Mobile Homes:

Mayor Richard Bloom joins Santa Monica locals and mobile park residents in previewing new energy-efficient housing installed in Santa Monica

Santa Monica City officials, delighted residents, and property management agent Real Estate Consulting and Services gathered to celebrate the replacement of 20 older City-owned recreational vehicles and mobile homes with new sustainable and affordable manufactured homes. Ten homes have been installed already, one of which was open for a tour on May 31.

The new homes, manufactured by Golden West Homes and designed by Marmol Radziner Prefab, include solar photovoltaic panels, solar hot water heating and other features that make them energy-efficient and sustainable dwellings.

The replacement of these 20 homes is part of the Mountain View Mobile Park infrastructure and site improvement project. The cost of the new homes is funded through both federal (HOME, CDBG and stimulus) and local (redevelopment) programs.
