On Friday, June 24, at 12:40 a.m. Santa Monica police officers went to the 600 block of Navy Street in response to some non-specific trouble. When the officers arrived at the residence in question, they stood outside and could clearly hear the unmistakable sounds of a man and a woman involved in a heated verbal argument emanating from inside the residence.
The officers contacted the pair and asked them what was happening. They told the officers that they had lived together for six years, and that earlier that evening they had attended a company party. While they were “enjoying” the party, they began to argue, and this argument continued as they travelled home, and then continued further when they arrived home. They both denied that any violence had occurred, however the officers could not help but notice that the man was wearing torn underwear, and was also sporting a number of scratches to his neck and upper body. The woman was not wearing torn underwear, and did not display any scratches to her. The officers investigated further and decided to arrest the woman. The 40-year-old Santa Monica woman was charged with domestic violence. Her bail was set at $50,000.
