On Saturday, Oct. 8, at 2:45 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to the OPCC (Ocean Park Community Center) in order to investigate an assault that had just occurred. When they arrived they spoke with the victim, a case manager at the facility.
He said that he had been talking to the suspect about the rules in the kitchen of the facility, when suddenly the suspect had punched him in the face with a closed fist.
This suspect had then continued to attempt to hurt the case manager and had to be held down, assisted by a resident at the center.
The case manager had suffered only minor injuries.
The case manager was desirous of a prosecution and this suspect, a 54-year-old Santa Monica resident, was charged assault and battery.
His bail was set at $20,000.
