FBI officials refuse to say whether they sanctioned outing of James ‘Whitey’ Bulger tipster:

A former actress who starred in a Noxzema shaving cream commercial in the 1970s is believed to be the tipster that led to the Santa Monica arrest of James “Whitey” Bulger and his girlfriend Catherine Greig on June 22.

Anna Bjornsdottir, 57, is said to have spent months at a time in Santa Monica, where she bonded with Greig over a stray cat, according to The Boston Globe.

The newspaper said she was home in Reykjavik when she saw a report on CNN in June about the FBI’s latest publicity campaign to catch the pair.

The Globe said FBI officials refused to say yesterday whether they sanctioned the outing of the Icelandic woman.
