Santa Monica firefighters responded to a fire in an apartment building earlier this evening.
The call came in at 7:19 p.m. and fire and police crews responded to 823 Seventh Street, at the corner of Montana. The fire was inside a unit at the rear of the apartment complex.
SMPD Sgt. Richard Lewis said the fire was quickly knocked down, but it was a densely packed apartment.
“Investigators are going through to confirm there are no injuries, but they don’t think there is,” Lewis said.
Legislation authored by Senator Ben Allen was approved on a unanimous, bi-partisan vote in the Senate Education Committee today on a vote of 9 – 0. SB 916, the Theatre and Dance Act (TADA), will establish single-subject teaching credentials for theatre and for dance. Four-time Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner, Annette Bening, testified in support of the bill.
