The historic walls of the Merry-Go-Round Building at the Santa Monica Pier will be home to a new photography exhibit called “Child’s Play” starting April 3
The exhibit will run through May 28 and explore the fun, awkward, whimsical, magical memories, and moments of childhood featuring the collaboration of three local photo-artists: Ellen Freyer, Judy Raffel, and Eileen Rapke.
“We are thrilled to bring our “Child’s Play” exhibit to the world-famous Santa Monica Pier inside the Merry-Go-Round building,” said Judy Raffel, one of the exhibitors. “Come and revive your own childhood moments through the many images of children’s spontaneity, freshness, emotions and creativity in play.”
A reception for the photographers is set for Sunday, April 15 from 2-5 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public and children are welcome.
The exhibit is open during regular Merry-Go-Round business hours: Monday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday-Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. It’s closed on Tuesdays.
The Santa Monica Pier offers a variety of entertainment and shopping including Pacific Park amusement park, Heal the Bay Aquarium, an historic 1922 Merry-Go-Round and old-fashioned soda fountain plus specialty shops/carts, eateries, and several full-service restaurants. The Pier is open year-round, and parking is available for a fee on a first come, first served basis.
