Santa Monica Little League To Host Clinic, Home Run Derby This Friday, Nov. 16:

In an effort to call attention to its discounted registration fee for the spring 2013 season, Santa Monica Little League will host a skills clinic and its first-ever Home Run Derby this Friday, Nov. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Field 5, 1401 Olympic Blvd.

The instructional clinic will be run by current varsity, junior varsity, and freshman players from Santa Monica High School, New Roads, and Windward.

Immediately following the clinic, SMLL will put on a Home Run Derby featuring players ages 11 and 12 who participate in SMLL, Santa Monica Pony League, and Pacific Palisades Pony League.

During Friday’s event, all Santa Monica residents aged 5-16 will be able to register for the 2013 season and the league is offering a $25 discount for early registration. Registration will also be open for SMLL softball and ASA softball.

Tryouts for Santa Monica Little League will be held in January with games starting in February. Players who will be league aged 4-16 by April 30, 2013 will be eligible to play. No player is turned away based on baseball skills or financial hardship.
