Santa Monica Realtors Collect 1800 Lbs Of Food As Part Of Thanksgiving Drive:

Keller Williams realtors Scott Price and Janice Hou orchestrated a Thanksgiving food drive in Santa Monica's Sunset Park neighborhood during the first week of November.

Thanks to two Santa Monica realtors, the Westside Food Bank now has an extra 1800 lbs of food in its reserves in the lead-up to the holiday season.

For the fourth straight year, Keller Williams realtors Scott Price and Janice Hou orchestrated a Thanksgiving food drive in Sunset Park in Santa Monica.

Just like the three previous years, bags were dropped off at residents’ doorsteps the first week of November and food was picked up at the end of the week.

This year, about 2,000 brown bags donated by Yummy.com for the food drive.

Price, Hou, and three volunteers drove two cars up and down the streets last Friday, Nov. 9, collecting the bags that neighbors left on their doorstep that morning.

When each car filled up with bags, a trip was made to the Westside Food Bank at 1710 22nd St to unload. A total of six trips were made totaling more than 1800 lbs.

Lincoln Middle School student Alan Mendoza volunteered and was able to collect hours for his community service scorecard.

All volunteers all felt the experience was incredibly rewarding and have already offered to contribute their time again next year.
