Santa Monica Author Pens Spiritual Journey In Her Book ‘Surfing On A Banana Peel’:

Santa Monica author Brona Fanelle has released her first book titled “Surfing on a Banana Peel” that relates to local popular culture and combines aspects of sustainability, health, and spiritual evolution.

Fanelle tells her true story of her spiritual path that took an entirely unexpected and extraordinary direction while dealing with her mother’s cancer diagnoses.

“I cleansed myself from spiritual mud I plunged into with good intentions in my past, and how I spontaneously discovered a new point of view, absorbed previously unknown energy, peeked behind the hidden line of this world and received truthful information from a new source, all this through caring for my body, nurturing it with natural food, and changing my attitude towards life,” Fanelle said. “My book speaks to a wide variety of readers. The old, the young, the wealthy, and the poor can all benefit from this original book.”

She said “Surfing on a Banana Peel” is in part a spiritual book, as is appeals to spiritual seekers who have not thus far found the path leading to spiritual evolution without dogmas, blind faith, unchecked truths, and dependency on something or someone.

“But really even skeptics who prefer scientific facts but feel that science has its limitations and cannot provide answers and explanations to questions beyond the familiar sphere of study will enjoy it,” she said. “The spiritually devoted who fail to see results and are not satisfied with simply hoping that the promises given to them will come true someday, somehow, may also benefit from this work.”

She said the idea for the book started when she changed her lifestyle in order to support her mother after she was diagnosed with cancer.

She said the changes not only healed her mother, but healed herself as well.

“I didn’t even know I needed healing,” she said. “My spirit had been sick and my years of spiritual seeking had not helped. Only after caring for myself as nature intended did I realize that my past religious and spiritual practices were one sided, I neglected the health of my body while caring for my spiritual side.”

She said she was inspired after she began to receive energy from Mother Nature and decided she wanted to share her experience.

She said she learned many things while writing “Surfing on a Banana Peel,” mainly the life changing realization of how simple things really are and how hard human beings insist on making them so complicated.

“As I wrote in my book ‘It’s so simple, it’s suspicious. Yes. That’s how mistaken we humans are,’” she said. ‘Surfing on a Banana Peel’ is so special because it can truly change your life, the only condition is action. Anyone can relate to it, learn from it, and improve from it. It is a chance to try and experience something new, and it is not restricted to spiritual growth. No matter who you are, if you give it a try, you will see the positive impact in your life.”

Fanelle has lived in Santa Monica for five years in the Mid-City area.

She said she loved the spirit and consciousness of the City.

“This place has an energy unlike any other,” she said. “I also enjoy living in a green and environmentally friendly city; it is beautiful to see so many people caring for our planet.”

She said the experience and process described in her book is a recipe for life.

“This recipe has left me healthy inside and out, and for the first time in my life I feel truly happy,” she said.
