Santa Monica Man, 32, Points Gun At Ex-Girlfriend’s Head, Threatens To Kill Her: Alert Police Blotter: How Ya Doin’?

A 32-year-old Santa Monica man was arrested Thursday, Dec. 13 after pointing a handgun as his ex-girlfriend and telling her he was going to kill her, and then himself.

At 5:30 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to a residence located in the 2800 block of Sixth Street in order to investigate a report of an assault with a handgun that had just occurred.

When the officers arrived they spoke with the female victim, who told them what had happened.

She told the officers she had decided to visit her ex-boyfriend in order to “see how he was doing.”

It appeared that he wasn’t doing very well at that time because after she had knocked on his door, he opened it and was standing there holding a handgun to his own head.

He then told the woman that he intended to kill her, and then himself. He then pointed the handgun to the woman’s head.

The woman decided to flee back to her vehicle and depart the scene rapidly.

She called the police as she was driving away. The woman did not suffer any physical injuries as a result of this experience.

The officers set up a perimeter around the suspect’s residence and he responded to their requests to exit the building without incident.

This 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault with a firearm, criminal threats, and domestic battery. Bail was set at $50,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
