Santa Monica detectives are investigating an apparent suicide of a man aged in his 50s that occurred Tuesday morning outside Busy Bee Hardware at 1521 Santa Monica Boulevard.
Santa Monica Police Department Sgt. Richard Lewis said officers responded to multiple calls of a gunshot at 9:27 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found a man inside a car with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and the gun was still in his hand, Lewis said.
The man’s name is being withheld until the next-of-kin has been notified, Lewis said.
