Santa Monica residents are invited to enjoy a free afternoon of live jazz, bicycle demonstrations, and bicycle-made ice cream this Saturday, Feb. 9 to celebrate the completion of Ocean Park Boulevard’s “Complete Green Street” between Lincoln Boulevard and Nielsen Way.
The grand opening celebration will be held at 2 p.m. in front of SMASH/John Muir Schools on Ocean Park Boulevard between 5th and 6th Street.
The City of Santa Monica and the Ocean Park Association, who are hosting the celebration, encourage residents to ride bikes to the event — bike valet will be available and there will be a bike ride down the green lanes.
The final “Complete Green Street” concept, partly funded by Measure V, includes a range of improvements designed to result in a better performing, enhanced streetscape environment that is pedestrian- and bicycle-oriented, attractive, green, and provides several environmental benefits, such as capturing and preventing significant volumes of urban run-off from entering the Santa Monica Bay.
