The Venice Street Legends perform this Tuesday, March 26 at O’Brien’s Irish Pub (2941 Main Street, Santa Monica) from 10 pm to 1 am.
This classic country/funk/rock band performs memorable melodies by super stars such as Johnny Cash and June Carter, Janis Joplin as well as Willie Nelson and more.
Together Greg Cruz, lead vocalist/guitarist and Kathy Leonardo put on a rousing show.
The Venice Street Legends also features Peter Hromadko on stand up bass and Mitch Montrose on drums. Cruz has been working as a Venice musician since 1989.
He mastered blues guitar backing the late James Mitchell Jr. and then he learned the country style while on tour across America with the late Paschel Feltner.
Leonardo puts on a show like no other performer as she has worked on Broadway. Her funny patter and interactions with not just the audience, but also the band, keeps audiences coming back.
Her rendition of the Patsy Cline classic “Crazy” is heartfelt and wistful.
She aptly switches from being a bawdy bodacious blues mama with a dark sultry voice to bearing her tender side featuring a lighter more vulnerable voice.
