Santa Monica citizens group “Save The Civic” is urging residents, government leaders, and the business community to attend a presentation this Friday by an Urban Land Institute Advisory Panel, engaged by the City of Santa Monica, to explore possibilities for the future of the Civic Auditorium.
The presentation will be held at 1 pm, in the MLK, Jr. Auditorium at Santa Monica’s Main Downtown Library, 601 Santa Monica Boulevard.
The presentation is the first in a number of public meetings that the city will hold regarding the future of the Civic Auditorium, which is slated to be mothballed this summer.
The panel includes land use experts who are tasked to immerse themselves in the particulars surrounding the Civic Auditorium’s current status and condition, its storied history and prospects for preservation and adaptive re-use.
Panelists will also conduct interviews and present preliminary findings.
“Save The Civic” is a citizen-led group of Santa Monica community leaders with a long history of public service.
