Santa Monica police are searching for a 6’0” white male aged in his 20s who assaulted a parking patrol officer and damaged a parking scooter on Monday night.
SMPD Sgt. Richard Lewis said a traffic patrol officer witnessed a skateboarder commit a minor violation at 9:35 pm near the intersection of Barnard Way and Hollister.
Lewis said the skateboarder then hid in bushes as the parking patrol officer called on SMPD officers for back up.
“As the traffic officer stepped out of his scooter to locate the subject, the violator jumped out of the bushes and smashed the windshield of the parking scooter using his skateboard,” Lewis said. “The violator then attempted to hit the parking patrol officer, but missed, and then ran off once again. The Police Department tried to locate the violator for his assault and his vandalism to the scooter.”
Lewis said a LAPD helicopter was in the area and assisted with the search, but the suspect was not found.
