The Santa Monica Democratic Club will host a talk by attorney Steve Rohde, who will speak on “Torture, Drones, and the Demand for Accountability” on Wednesday, June 26.
It will be held at the Santa Monica Main Library’s auditorium at 7 pm.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will include a Q&A session and light refreshments.
Rohde is a constitutional lawyer, lecturer, writer and political activist.
He is the Chair of the ACLU Foundation of Southern California; a founder and current Vice Chair of Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace; Vice Chair of Bend the Arc, a Jewish Partnership for Justice; and a Vice President of Death Penalty Focus.
Rohde is the author of “American Words of Freedom,” which explores the origins, history and meaning of the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, and Bill of Rights.
His most recent book is “Freedom of Assembly,” which is part of the American Rights Series.
He is also co-author of “Foundations of Freedom” published by the Constitutional Rights Foundation and has written numerous articles and book reviews on civil liberties and constitutional history.
