Cops Arrest Homeless Man Near Promenade For Smoking Street Marijuana:

A 39-year-old homeless man was arrested Friday, July 5 after being caught smoking marijuana near the Third Street Promenade.

At 4:30 pm, officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were on routine patrol in the area of Third Street and Santa Monica Boulevard when they chanced upon the man who was smoking street marijuana (sometimes known as African Bush, African Black, Afgani Indica, Acapulco Red, Canadian Black, Chocolate Thai, Columbus Black, Colombian, Hawaiian Homegrown Hay, Hawaiian Black, Indian Hemp, Indian Hay, Jamaican Red Hair, Jamaican Gold, Kentucky Blue, Kona Gold, Manhattan Silver, Mexican Red, Mexican Locoweed, Mexican Green,  Mexican Brown, Panama Gold, Tex-Mex, Texas Tea, amongst others).

When this man noticed the officers he attempted to hide himself behind a trash can, but the officers spotted his attempt at concealment and approached him.

The officers detained this man but he refused to provide his real name and instead gave them a false one.

The officers arrested this homeless man and he was charged with obstructing an officer and possession of marijuana.

Bail was set at $10,000.
