Santa Monica Museum Of Art Receives $121.5K Grant From Andy Warhol Foundation:

The Santa Monica Museum of Art (SMMoA) has received $121,500 from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts in support of the Fall 2014 exhibition Citizen Culture: Artists and Architects Shape Policy.

Of the grand total, $41,500 is for a research grant and $80,000 is an implementation grant.

Organized by independent curator Lucía Sanromán, this groundbreaking exhibition considers the capacity for artists and architects, working alongside citizens and local governments throughout the Americas, to reshape public policy and legislation.

SMMoA Executive Director Elsa Longhauser said the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts had been extremely generous to the museum during her 13 year tenure.

“The Foundation has unflaggingly supported some of our most prescient work; they responded immediately to the urgency and importance of Citizen Culture—an exhibition that underscores the power of art as a catalyst for social change,” Longhauser said.

The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts has been a supporter of the Santa Monica Museum of Art since 2000.

These recent grants bring its total contribution to the Museum’s unparalleled exhibitions and programs to over half a million dollars.
