Bail was set at $20,000 for a homeless man who caused between $1000 and $1500 damage to a dog walker’s vehicle on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
At 1:20 pm a woman who works as a dog walker parked her vehicle in the 2300 block of Fourth Street against the west side of the median.
As she began to step out of her car she saw a person walking down the center of the median.
This person was “glaring” at the dog walker with a “mean” expression.
Due to this perceived threat the dog walker hastily re-entered her vehicle for safety.
At that point the suspect positioned himself at the front of the dog walker’s vehicle and punched the vehicle above the wheel well causing a dent.
The dog walker then jumped out of her car and began to run and yell for help.
A Santa Monica City employee who was performing his duties in a nearby park called 911.
When the suspect saw that he was doing this he charged at the city employee with clenched fists.
The police arrived shortly afterwards and found this man a short distance away.
They arrested this 53-year-old homeless man and he was charged with vandalism.
