Enjoy Arts & Crafts Throughout September In Palisades Park:

1450 Ocean, the Camera Obscura building in Palisades Park, is offering plenty of arts, crafts, and culture workshops during the rest of September and October.

Registration can be completed online at smgov.net/reserve. Sort by location to view “1450 Ocean.”

In-person advance registration by cash or check is accepted at 1450 Ocean between 9 am-5 pm Monday through Friday and 11am to 4 pm Saturdays. Day-of call 310.458.2239 to confirm availability by the Tuesday before class starts.

Meditate/Create, a creative writing workshop with Terry Wolverton

This workshop provides the opportunity for beginners and experienced writers to engage in a writing practice. Each session begins with a meditation – based in the tradition of Kundalini Yoga – to calm and focus the mind. This is followed by a writing exercise to stimulate creativity, and finally by an open writing session that allows you to work on your own projects in a supportive setting.

Wednesdays 7-8:30 pm: 9/18, 9/25.

Cost: $20 or $70/series.

Salsa Aerobics with Isabelle Pampillo

Experience an exhilarating aerobic dance workout with a Latin flair, and learn some muy caliente Latin dance moves while toning muscles and burning calories. All levels welcome.

Mondays 12:30-2 pm: 9/16, 9/23, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28.

Zumba Craze with Diana Flores

Hip-Hop Dance with Angela Robinson

Break down the latest dance moves into manageable parts, working toward a complete hip-hop routine. Have fun and get a great workout at the same time.

Basic Drawing with Art Innovators (AKA Art Soirees)

Drawing-based fine art lessons introduce various media to boost your creative side. Take risks and explore the unknown – no art experience necessary.

TheGroove Dance/Fitness with Sarah Marsh

Basic Bookbinding with Debra Disman

Create unique handmade books to use as journals, photo albums, gifts, scrapbooks, and more! Learn a different book “structure” each week, and see how to add your own personal artwork, photos, writing, memorabilia, and ideas to make each creation unique, special, and expressive. Walking Meditations with Amanda Springer

Take in amazing views of the bluffs, while learning simple techniques to reduce stress, build energy, cultivate awareness and aid concentration. Please bring a yoga mat, water and some good walking shoes.

GLOW workshop:Oh the Places You’ll GLOW!

LED interactive badge creation with Crashspace. Participants will assemble their own IR interactive micro-controlled LED-lit badge Lovely glowing objects in their own right, they are also your ticket to a special secret tour of GLOW, Santa Monica’s triennial celebration of light and art at the water’s edge.
