A 26-year-old Santa Monica man was arrested at 2 am on Saturday, Nov. 9 after running away from a police officer who caught him urinating a couple of blocks from the beach.
An officer of the Santa Monica Police Department noticed this man who was in the process of urinating in public in the 100 block of Ashland Avenue (there exists a Santa Monica Municipal Code that prohibits anyone from urinating in a public place that is not designated as a facility specifically designated as a place where urinating and other similar functions are appropriate).
The officer exited his police vehicle in order to issue the man a citation for the offense, and noticed that this man displayed symptoms that were indicative of alcohol intoxication.
The suspect then told the officer that “he was sorry” for urinating and then suddenly ran off.
The officer chased the man and caught him.
This man was arrested and charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest, and urinating in public.
Bail was set at $10,000.
