Santa Monica police arrested a drunk Reseda man on Saturday, Dec. 14 who was caught trying to steal merchandise from Bloomingdale’s Department Store.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department, who were assigned to a holiday safety detail in the downtown Santa Monica area, responded to a radio call at 6:40 pm on this day that told them that there was an intoxicated person who was in the dressing rooms at Bloomingdale’s Department Store, located at 315 Colorado Avenue, who was refusing to leave.
The officers went to the location and spoke with the loss prevention agent at the store who told them that the person was very, very drunk and that he was suspected of attempting to steal items from the store.
The officers looked inside the dressing room and saw the highly inebriated man. The officers then searched this man and discovered a pair of wire cutters, some cut security tags from items for sale in the store, and $513 worth of merchandise upon the man’s person.
The officers then arrested this intoxicated 28-year-old Reseda resident and he was subsequently charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools. Bail was set at $20,000.
