Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club To Host Free Medical Lectures:

The Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club will this month launch a series of health lectures by distinguished doctors preeminent in their fields.

The first lecture will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 8 with a discussion of common causes of vision problems and what you can be done to protect vision.

All lectures are presented free to the public and will be held from 7 pm to 8:30 pm at the Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club located at 1210 4th Street, Santa Monica.

Parking at the city lot next door on 4th street; the first 90 minutes of parking are free.

Most Common Causes of Vision Problems: What You Can Do to Protect Your Vision. Dr. Negin Nikahd, OD, Resident at the Center for the Partially Sighted, will discuss common systemic and ocular causes of decreased vision and what can be done to protect the health of your eyes. RSVP: 800.516.5323

Promoting Brain Health to Live Better, Longer What happens in the brain as a part of normal aging? How does this impact thinking and memory? Lindsay Embree, PhD, UCLA postdoctoral fellow in geropsychology-neuropsychology, will review the research on how to promote a healthy brain. RSVP: 800.516.5323

Gluten Free: Is it Right For You? Nancee Jaffe, RD, UCLA clinical dietitian, will sort through the myriad of information that is floating around on the internet, in magazines and on the TV to understand what gluten really is, who should consider going gluten free and how to get gluten free the healthy way.
