The Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce will bring together city and community leaders at its annual State of The City event on Monday, Jan. 27.
This year, the event’s focus is on global visionaries and local leaders of Santa Monica.
It will take place in a unique community space: the Cirque du Soleil’s Grand Chapiteau (Big Top). Attendees will hear first-hand from City Manager Rod Gould and Mayor Pam O’Connor about the current state of Santa Monica and what makes it a model city for the 21st Century.
Again this year, the event will honor individuals and organizations that have contributed to the economic success of our city while demonstrating commitment to Santa Monica’s wellbeing through social, humanitarian, and environmental leadership.
The Economic Excellence Award for 2013/2014 will be presented to Cirque du Soleil, which will show a video highlighting their 30 year history in Santa Monica.
The Community Excellence Award will be presented to Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky.
Receiving Innovation Awards will be Adam Miller founder of Cornerstone on Demand, a local tech company, and Richard Chacker, Perry’s on the Beach and Bike Rentals. Also on hand will be Visionary sponsor, Skanska with an update on the Expo light rail’s progress to Santa Monica.
