Bail was set at $50,000 for a newly married homeless man on Friday, Jan. 24 after he was seen assaulting his wife in public.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the 1300 block of Wilshire Boulevard at 1:30 pm on this day after they had received a report of a domestic violence incident. Upon arrival the officers spoke with a witness who told them that he had seen
a man punch a woman in the neck and push her to the ground.
The officers discovered the two parties involved and questioned them.
The officers discovered that these two had just been married and that they had been arguing and that the man had indeed allegedly assaulted his new wife.
The officers noticed that the woman had some redness around her eyes and to one of her cheeks.
The officers, based upon the evidence, arrested this man and he was charged with domestic violence. Bail was set at $50,000.
