A Santa Monica hotel employee was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 23 after assaulting a hotel guest after a late night argument escalated.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to a hotel in the 1700 block of Ocean Avenue at 11:50 pm on this day in order to investigate a report of an assault.
When they arrived the officers discovered that a guest of the hotel had allegedly been involved in an argument with an employee, and that the dispute had turned into a fight.
The officers learned that that the employee had subsequently assaulted the guest.
The officers decided to view the closed circuit television footage of the area and saw that it did indeed appear that the employee had assaulted the guest.
The officers, under the facilities afforded by a private person’s arrest, took the employee to jail and charged him with assault and battery.
This 27-year-old man was granted bail in the sum of $20,000.
