A 55-year-old Malibu woman remains in a “guarded” condition after a traffic collision in Santa Monica at approximately 9 am last Wednesday, March 12.
The Santa Monica Police Department responded to the collision in the 2600 block of Main Street involving a pedestrian and a truck.
Due to the extent of the injuries sustained by the pedestrian, the SMPD sent its Major Accident Response Team to the location for investigative purposes.
SMPD Sgt. Jay Moroso said the investigation determined that the pick-up truck driver was driving west on Ocean Park Boulevard and at Main Street he turned south.
“The pedestrian was crossing eastbound in the south crosswalk of Main and Ocean Park against a green pedestrian signal,” Moroso said. “The driver of the truck struck the pedestrian in the cross walk.”
Moroso said the driver of the vehicle stopped for the accident.
“The pedestrian sustained multiple fractures on the left side of her body including a broken pelvis and head trauma,” Moroso said. “She was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries and listed in ‘guarded’ condition.”
As of today, Moroso said she is still in guarded condition.
The 31-year-old male driver, who is from Santa Monica, is cooperating with the SMPD.
